■The Comments by The Good Design Award Jury
Though there are many services that 3D print and ship model data, “Rinkak” leads the way ahead. Usually, only a few types of plastic can be used in similar services, whereas Rinkak provides more than 30 materials such as ceramic, metal and rubber. Additionally, users can print models with very precise and smooth surface, and can be applied directly to end ornamental products such as jewelry. Designers can sell their own 3D models through Rinkak. The website only sells real products, therefore model data will not be copied and spread against designers’ will. Also, it holds data that can be edited freely according to Creative Commons. Rinkak is creating new business market driven by 3D data, and is an excellent service that leads the democratization of manufacturing industry.
